Margaret "Jean" Dawson Lansing, Michigan Obituary

Margaret "Jean" Dawson

Margaret Jean (Finch) Dawson passed from this earth on February 14, 2020. Jean was born on January 10, 1929, in Springfield, Ohio, to Margaret (Fahy) and Everett Finch. She met the love of her life, Patrick Dawson, at the roller rink, and they were married on August 10, 1948. They returned to make a life in Ohio after he was discharged from the Navy, and remained devoted to each other until Patrick’s death in July 2019, just before what would have been their 71st wedding anniversary. Jean was also predeceased by her grandson, Westley Dawson. Jean is survived by her brother James Finch (Gloria) of Springfield, Ohio, and by her six children: Patrick M. Dawson (Sue), Timothy P. Dawson (Debbie), Kathleen Dawson (Rod Kosmick), Thomas P. Dawson (Pam), James E. Dawson (Anita), and Carol Dawson, who will be adopting Jean’s lovable fur baby Buddy. She was also the beloved grandmother of twelve grandchildren and a loving great-grandmother to many great-grandchildren. Jean devoted her life to caring for her husband and family. She and Pat were avid square dancers and delighted in the heartfelt friendships they enjoyed during the time they lived in Mountain View, Missouri. In addition, Jean was a talented and prolific artist and produced many beautiful works in ceramic, porcelain, oil, water color, stained glass, and mixed media. She loved Christmas, and her family will always treasure the unique and incredibly detailed Santa Claus figures she made. While her smile and incredible energy will be missed, she will live on in our hearts and in the beautiful works of art she created. No services are currently planned. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Lansing or the charity of your choice.
