Charles "Chuck" Randles, 85, of Robinson, IL, died at 1:35 a.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2020, at Eastgate Manor in Washington, IN. He was born February 12, 1935, in Coshocton, OH, to Charles Randles, Sr. & Daisy (Privett) Randles, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Hilda (Sexton) Battershell on February 10, 1973, and she preceded him in death on November 4, 2013. He was also preceded in death by several siblings. He married Nancy (Burton) Eden on December 15, 2018, and she survives. He is also survived by his sisters, Judy and Ellen; by his nephew and his wife, Carl Landes and Carla Sue Mengedoht; by several other nieces and nephews; as well as his beloved dog, Maggie. Chuck grew up in the Vincennes area before answering his country's call. In 1952, he joined the U.S. Navy, with whom he served during the Korean War. His time in the service led him to join the Robinson American Legion #69 and the Lawrenceville VFW Post #2244, where he was a life-member. Upon his discharge, he went to work as a metal fabricator in Houston, TX for a time before getting on at Briggs Pottery in Robinson, where he worked for several years. Away from work, he loved spending time in his yard, be that mowing or gardening. He was, by all accounts, a very creative soul. He was an ace woodworker and also enjoyed channeling his inner artist through painting. Late in his life, he loved watching old westerns and game shows, and this provided him with hours of enjoyment in his twilight years. Friends and family will remember an open and easily-approachable soul who lived life generously. We who had the good fortune of knowing him are proud to have known Chuck Randles, and his memory will live on in our hearts forever. It was his wish to be cremated without any public services.
