Irene Lucille Will, 99, of Murphysboro, passed away at 11:25 a.m. Thursday, February 13, 2020, at Integrity of Carbondale, Illinois. Irene was born on March 6, 1920, in rural Murphysboro, to Thomas Luther Butcher and Ida May (Jarrett) Butcher. She married Clyde Will on April 14, 1946, and he preceded her in death on October 17, 1980. Irene was a graduate of the Chicago School of Nursing. She worked at the former St. Andrew Hospital in Murphysboro, St. Anthony Hospital in St. Louis, and St. Joseph Hospital in Murphysboro, where she retired on July 3, 1985. Mrs. Will was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the Murphysboro Garden Club. Irene was preceded in death by three brothers George and Lutheran Butcher and Leonard Butcher in infancy, and her parents. She is survived by a few nieces and nephews including Gerald (Charlene) Butcher of Pinckneyville and Georgia (Gary) Hefler of Makanda; and several great nieces and great nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 17, 2020, at Pettett Funeral Home with Rev. Melissa Waterman officiating and burial at Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Caring and Sharing Thrift Store in Pinckneyville.
