Trudy DeFoor

Trudy DeFoor, 90, passed away on April 4, 2017. A visitation will be held on Monday, Apr. 10, from 9-10am, with funeral service at 10am, both at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St. Independence, MO 64055. She will be laid to rest in Mount Washington Cemetery. Trudy was born in Rock Island, Texas to William and Calista (Humbird) DeFoor. She moved to the Kansas City area in the late 1940s, and worked as a secretary for Whitaker Cable and Union Carbide. She was affiliated with the Church of Christ. In her free time, Trudy enjoyed playing bridge and oil painting. She was a trophy-winning ballroom dancer, and on many occasions took to remodeling the rooms in her home by herself! She was independent, strong, and had a smile that could light up a room. She will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, and a large extended family whom she loved dearly.
