Michael Adam Hicks

Michael Adam Hicks, age 37 of Mt. Airy, passed away Monday, September 18, 2017. Born in Stephens County, Georgia on June 3, 1980, Mr. Hicks was a 1998 graduate of Habersham Central High School. He later graduated from North Georgia Technical College where he received his degrees in Marine Mechanics and also in C & C machining. Mr. Hicks was a poultry farmer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, watching University of Georgia Football, and was an avid truck enthusiast. Adam enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephew. He was of the Holiness faith. Mr. Hicks was preceded in death by his grandparents, Minnie Mae and John Henry Payne and Lewis Martin “L.M.” Hicks. Mr. Hicks is survived by his mother, Vivian Payne Hicks of Mt. Airy; father and step-mother, Michael A. Hicks and Lera Hendrixson of Mt. Airy; sister, Amy Hicks Bevers of Mt. Airy; grandmother, Betty Jean Funk of Mt. Airy; nephew, Gabe Bevers; niece, Ally Bevers; great niece, Layleigh Harper Bevers; several cousins, other relatives, and friends. Funeral services are 2 pm Saturday, September, 23, 2017 in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Rev. John Umberhant and Mr. Stacey Avery officiating. Interment will follow in the Welcome Home Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Thursday and again 6-8 pm on Friday at the funeral home.
