Larry Crowe

James Larry Crowe, age 77, husband of Kay Byrd Atchley Crowe of 1635 Hwy 221 S. Forest City, NC passed away Sunday at his home. Larry was a native of Rutherford County and the son of the late Lemuel Lester Crowe & Edith Lenora Queen Crowe. Larry was a retired truck driver and owner of Sunnyside Orchards, a member of the Rutherfordton Masonic Lodge and Southern Baptist Church. Larry was a grateful heart transplant recipient and fought a courageous battle with cancer for many years. In addition to his wife Kay, he leaves to cherish his memory, sons Tommy Crowe of Forest City, Jimmy (Tracy) Crowe of Rutherfordton; daughters Connie (Jeff) Shytle of Cookville, Tn., Kim (Steve) Wheat of Rutherfordton and Melissa Atchley of Forest City; sister Lynn Griffin of Forest City; 10 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandchild along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Larry was preceded in death by his brothers Lonnie and Lester Crowe and brother in law Henry Griffin. A service to celebrate the life of Larry Crowe will be held at 2 PM Wednesday March 15, 2017 at Southern Baptist Church with Dr. Jimmy Byrd, Rev. John Perry, Rev. Bob Philbeck, Mr. Jeff Shytle and Mr. Jordon Crowe officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow in Eternal Hills Memorial Park with Masonic Rites. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southern Baptist Church, 140 Church Street, Rutherfordton, NC 28139.
