Morgan Lawless

Stephentown, NY – Morgan A. Lawless, 86, passed away at home on Thursday, September 20, 2018 with his wife Cathlyne and daughter Ellen, by his side. Born in Newark, NJ he was son of the late Edwin Theodosius Lawless and Alice Ruth (Carpenter) Lawless. He moved to Stephentown at the age of 3 with his family. Morgan served his country for four years in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged, in 1954, at Camp Lejeune, NC, with the rank of sergeant. He had participated in operations against the enemy forces in Korea, as a mortar unit leader, from August of 1951 until July of 1952 and was later stationed in Vieques, Puerto Rico. He was employed by the United States Postal Service for 31 years and retired in 1980. He was a member of the Stephentown Senior Citizens, Stephentown Veterans Organization, the Nassau, NY Post of the V.F.W. He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Stephentown. Morgan is survived by his wife, Cathlyne A. (Brower) Lawless; his children, Stephen Andrew Lawless of Jacksonville, FL, Kevin Michael Lawless (Rene) of Stephentown, Susan Marie Work and Ellen Lawless both of Stephentown; his grandchildren, Morgan James Lawless, Joseph and Morgan Giumarra and Derek Riello; his step-children, Mary Zaremba (Jeff) of Averill Park and Robert G. Collins; his step-grandchildren, Rebecca and Amanda Zaremba and John Collins. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 2 pm in St. Joseph’s Church, 458 State Route 43, Stephentown, NY.
