Linda JoLene Smith

Linda “JoLene” (Reinhart) Smith, 76, a lifelong resident of Fredonia, Kansas, passed away, Sunday, January 26, 2020. Jolene was born January 1, 1944 to Henry James and Bertha Stella (Shinn) Reinhart in Chanute, Kansas. She grew up in Fredonia and graduated in 1962 from Fredonia High School. Jolene attended 1 year of college at Pittsburg, Kansas. On April 19, 1963, Jolene married Jim Smith at the First United Methodist Church in Fredonia. To this union, one son, Karl was born. They celebrated 50 years of marriage before Jim preceded her in death on October 19, 2013. JoLene worked at State Bank of Fredonia for over 45 years. She enjoyed her community and donated food, especially pies, to many organizations, volunteered at the Thrift Store and the Plant Station. She loved cooking, flowers, having get togethers and game night with family and friends. She also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. Survivors include her best friend and soulmate, Rex Crawford of Fredonia, Kansas, bonus daughter, Julie (Edwards) Barta and husband John of Topeka, bonus sons, Michael Edwards, of Hopewell, Virginia, Tim Edwards and wife Leslie of Andover, Kansas, brother, Merle Reinhart and wife, Carolyn of Andover, Kansas, nephews Duane Reinhart of Columbus, Maryland, Chris Reinhart of Andover, Kansas, sister-in-law, Patty Blanck and husband Bill of Valley Falls, Kansas, sister-in-law Ila Smith of El Paso, Texas, bonus grandchildren Shannon, Matthew, Kendall Barta and Ella Edwards, and many other family members, some younger and some older.. JoLene was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, her parents and son Karl. Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, January 31, 2020 at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 N. 7th Fredonia, Kansas. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. There will be a private burial at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Fredonia Flag Fund or Fredonia Hospital and they may be left or mailed to the funeral home. Private family inurnment will follow at a later date.
