Joyce Ann Herring

Joyce Ann Herring, 66, of Murphysboro, passed away at 4:44 p.m. Friday, January 24, 2020, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Joyce was born on July 10, 1953, in Murphysboro, Illinois, to Albert Herring and Marian (Korando) Herring. She had worked in customer service for her parent's at the former Murphysboro Tractor and Equipment and later at Walmart. Miss Herring was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Murphysboro. Joyce loved animals and was a donor to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals. When she was able, she liked to travel. She is survived by five brothers and sisters Barbara Prahl of Mattoon, James (Valerie) Herring of Murphysboro, Larry (Donna) Herring of Murphysboro, Patricia Boudet and Cynthia Miles, both of Carbondale; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Her body will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at Pettett Funeral Home with Father Bob Flannery officiating, with burial at a later date. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Her family would prefer memorials to be made to St. Francis Care or to Murphysboro Food Pantry.
