Cornelius Kerry McGill was born on June 2, 1965, to Luvenia
Triplett and Ralph McGill, in Waukegan, IL. Cornelius attended
Waukegan East Campus but graduated from Maywood High in South
Carolina, in 1984. He was a superb athlete while playing basketball
at Morris College. He returned to Waukegan. Then, he decided to be
baptized at First Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church, and later on,
he became a member at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church of
Waukegan. However, he passed away at Vista Memorial on January
19, 2020.
Cornelius was known by so many names. He was known as “Corn,”
but to many family and friends, he was known as “Neil.” Neil was a
self-proclaimed artist and D.J. He could draw portraits and animated
characters that were just AMAZING. However, it did not stop there,
because he loved music as well. Some of his favorite musicians were
Prince, The Times, Sade, R. Kelly, Cameo, Zapp, Bootsie Collins,
Michael Jackson, Outcast, DMX, and even Migos, just to name a few.
He loved MUSIC, and his wall of CD’s, eight tracks, and cassette tapes
proved it. Cornelius loved his family, ALL OF US. Each and every one
of us played a role in his life. Whether it was a big part or a small part,
he made sure you knew he loved you. We all have a story about him
impacting us in one way or another.
