She was a dedicated teacher who loved her students and wished only the best for each and every one of them. She spent most of her career teaching math courses at Robstown high school for 26 years where she also served a few years as pep squad sponsor. Nettie was a faithful Christian and disciple of Jesus, serving God as a member of Arcadia Christian Church during her formative years and First Christian Church-Kingsville, First Christian Church-Corpus Christi and Rolling Oaks Christian Church-San Antonio as an adult. She was a member of the faithful Bible study group at Vista Village, New Braunfels during her 10+ year residency there. Nettie was an involved parent, participating in all of her children's activities, including PTA, 4-H Leadership, and band parent sponsor. She attended end of school plays, spent hours working on 4-H sewing projects, as well as cub scout projects, and watching countless parades, half-time shows, band contests and athletic events. Nettie loved to sew and crochet. She created many beautiful clothes for herself, her daughters and her son, as well as making baby blankets and layettes for her grandchildren and countless others. Her skill and talent also supplemented the family income, allowing her to be a "stay at home mom" when her children were small. She was an avid reader and lover of crossword puzzles, well into her 90's until her vision no longer permitted her to pursue her hobbies. She also loved to dance and to travel, with trips to Puerto Rico and the Holy Land being her favorite and most memorable adventures. Nettie was a woman who welcomed all people with open arms into her life, home and heart with Christian love.   She was dearly loved and will always be in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to Vista Village, 264 Loma Vista, New Braunfels, Tx 78130 (Indicate in memo: Nettie Ratliff Memorial Fund)
