Edith Earleine McDonald Harman was born August 19, 1935 in McCurtain County, OK to Earl A. and Emma L. (Raynor) McDonald. They moved to Kay County when she was 5 years old. She attended country schools in Chiskaska Valley, Banner and Pioneer grade schools. She attended Blackwell Junior High and Blackwell High School and graduated in 1954. She attended business classes at Northern Oklahoma College after high school. In 1954, she began working at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Newkirk, OK. She worked for 14 years in Newkirk, Blackwell, Ponca City, Okmulgee, and Little Rock, AR. writing trunk orders for new equipment. She also worked for Civil Service at the Naval Ammunition Depot in Savanna, OK. She married Arlon D. Edwards in 1958 in Medford and together they had one son, Arlon Dewitt Edwards, Jr. Her husband Arlon precedes her in death. In 1966, she married Benjamin F. Lane in Norman, OK. They resided in Dustin, Hanna, and Weleetka, OK. He precedes her in death. While working at Adkins Weleetka Nursing Home, she went to school at Okmulgee Tech and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She then worked as the supervisor for the nursing home in Weleetka. She also worked for Heneryetta Hospital, Okemah Hosptial and Okmulgee Hospital. On September 20, 1981 she married Donald L. Harman in Eufaula, OK and moved to Nardin, OK, where she was Mayor of Nardin. In 1987 after her husband retired they moved to a farm in Grant County. She was an active member in many organizations including: Past Matron twice in Blackwell Order of Eastern Star, Past County President and Past County Treasurer of Kay County OHCE. She belonged to the Nardin OHCE Group, American Red Cross volunteer, past president at Tonkawa VFW Auxiliary, Lamont-Blackwell American Legion, past Matron's Club, hospital volunteer, Deer Creek Sew and So Club, ALCO Club, serving on the board for RSVP, AARP, Work Good Buye Shoppe, and volunteered crafts at NSG Home. She worked on the Grant County Election Board, worked NTMC several years in Lamont and Blackwell, put flags out on veterans graves in four cemeteries for Memorial Day. She was a dedicated worker doing volunteer work, "Work where needed" was her motto. Receiving many honors her greatest treasures in life was her son and grandson and many friends. Earleine loved to fish, eat out with family and friends. She is survived by her son Arlon Edwards and grandson Samuel Edwards of Ardmore, OK, one brother Kenneth McDonald of Wyoming, Sister in law Donna Gideon, Sister in law Fran McDonald, one niece and four nephews. Preceded in death by her husband Donald Harman, her parents and brother Lenard McDonald. Viewing will be available until 8pm on Wednesday and from 9am-8 pm on Thursday with visitation from 7-8 on Thursday. The Funeral service will be 2:00 pm on Friday, May 1, 2015 at Christ's Church in Blackwell, OK with Pastor Milo Davis officiating. Burial will then follow at the Braman Cemetery in Braman, OK . Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home of Blackwell. Memorials may be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice 313 S. Market St, Wichita, KS 67202.
