Joseph Thomas Gleiter
Joseph Thomas Gleiter, age 86, a resident of Sunrise North of Naperville, IL and a former longtime resident of Orland Park, IL, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2020. He was born on June 29, 1933 in Chicago, IL to Joseph and Bridie (nee Connolly) Gleiter, who preceded him in death. Joe is survived by his loving children, Patrick, Mary (John) Puskar, Joseph (Bernadette) Gleiter, Jr. and Anne (Steve) Jetzer; as well as eight grandchildren--Andrea (Benjamin), Joe E., Thomas, Rose, John Paul, Steven, Edge and Lawrence--and one great-grandchild, Jesse. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Betty (the late Greg) Frantz. Joe was a graduate of Marmion Academy, Aurora, IL. He worked for over 40 years at Clark Equipment (later Volvo Construction Equipment). He enjoyed ballroom dancing, coho fishing, and volunteering countless hours with the Orland Park Fire District, Lake Katherine Nature Center, Humphrey House, a local Food Bank, Chicago Association for Children with Learning Disabilities, and Aspire/PARC. He was part of a community group that helped to secure landmark status for Humphrey House and was featured in a PBS special program on Orland Park. All services will be private.
