.Russell Lee Beatty, 83, of Hannibal, passed away at 8:24 AM Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, MO. A Memorial service will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO. Rev. Robert Craig will officiate. Friends and Family are invited to Russell's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Monday, January 20, 2020 at the funeral home. Russell was born December 18, 1936, in Clarence, MO to Samuel F. Beatty and Rosa Mae Phillips. He was married to Doris Fuqua on July 20, 1963 in Hannibal, MO. She survives. Other survivors include 4 children Phyllis Ann Rainville (Dan) of Shelbina, MO, Russell Lee Beatty, Jr. (Martha) of Shelbina, MO, Jeff Beatty (Vicki) of Shelbina, MO and Lori Beatty Williams (Tony) of Hannibal, MO, special family, Bobbie Beatty (Carroll Harms) of Tioga, IL. 2 brothers, Bill Beatty (Sherry) of Vandalia, MO, Neil Beatty (Ann) of Dennard, AR, and 1 sister, Phyllis VanValkenburg of Orion, IL. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Russell is preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, Samuel Beatty, Jr. and numerous aunts and uncles. Professionally Russell was a logger and timber buyer. He was an avid wood worker, and loved making shelves, wagons and cradles, with walnut be his favorite wood. He loved to mow and was very particular about his yard. Russell simply loved to be at a home. He enjoyed family reunions, barbeques or just dancing with his wife. Russell could be found watching his favorite game shows on TV, listening to bluegrass music or playing games on his Kindle. He cherished the time he spent with his family and his grandkids. Russell was a member of Providence Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Concord Christian Church Foundation.

Doris, I'm so sorry to hear this. Melvin and I loved going to dances and watching the gang dance. After Melvin got to the point where he couldn't dance, we still talked about some of those nights when we had so much fun. Sending hugs.
