Josephine (Garber) Zimmerman 103 of Pontiac, IL died Wednesday January 15, 2020 at 6:00AM at Evenglow Lodge. Funeral services will be held on Friday January 17, 2020 at 6:00PM at the First Baptist Church, Pontiac, IL. with Rev. James O Wolfe III officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday from 5:30 until the hour of services at the First Baptist Church, Pontiac, IL. Memorials in Josephine’s name may be made to First Baptist Church, Pontiac. Burial will be in Waldo Cemetery, rural Gridley, IL. at 10:00 AM on Saturday. Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Pontiac is handling the arrangements. Jo was born on December 11, 1916 near Hudson, IL. a daughter of Joseph and Joy (Engel) Garber. She married Paul A. Zimmerman on June 11, 1938. He preceded her in death on November 25, 1972. Survivors include; two sons: Herbert (Kiko) Zimmerman of Park Ridge, IL. and Michael A. (Victoria) of Hawaii; two grandsons: Mark (Sara) of Berwyn, IL and Andrew (Micha) of Chicago, IL; two great grandchildren: Mika Joy and Kai; two nephews: Roger (Carol) Gerig and Merle (Vi) Gerig; two nieces: Donna Strunk and Shirley Wiegers and many great nephews and nieces. Over the years she was employed as a secretary at State Farm Travel Bureau in Bloomington, IL, Seco Steel in Bartonville, IL, worked with her husband in the Pontiac Seed Company, and for 17 years as the secretary for the Livingston Area Vocational School, Pontiac, IL. She was a member of First Baptist Church over 65 years, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School and on the ladies’ mission committee during her life. She was a longtime member of the former Zonta Club in Pontiac. Josephine enjoyed being a good mom, sewing, gardening, crafts, golf and was a diehard Cubs and Bulls fan. The family of Josephine Zimmerman would like to thank everyone for their prayers, kind thoughts and words at the passing of our mother. Your kindness and generosity reflect well her strong faith, kindness and love to others. Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous.
