MACKAY, Betty-Lou Eileen – Age 71, formerly of Upper Northfield, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2020 in Rosedale Home for Special Care, New Germany, where she has been residing with her husband Dale. Born in Windsor, she was a daughter of the late Victor Porter, Doris (Flynn) and Clyde MacBurnie. During Betty-Lou’s working career, she was a certified nursing assistant, starting her employment experience with the Rosedale Home for Special Care and finishing her career with South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Dale Richard MacKay, New Germany; daughter, Angie (Johnny) Connors, Pinehurst; grandchildren, Bailey Connors and Nathan Connors, both of Pinehurst; brothers, Reg (Sandra) Porter, Fredericton; Frank Porter, Victoria, BC; Bernie (Bonnie) Porter, Winnipeg; sisters, Carol Ann (Keith) Harvey, Liverpool; Marilyn (Charlie) Bezanson, Lockhartville; step-brother, Ricky MacBurnie, Alberta; sisters-in-law, Cheryl MacBurnie, Garlands Crossing; Betty-Ann MacKay, Pinehurst; Judy Fahey (Tom), Upper Northfield; many nieces and nephews; “adopted” daughter, Kathy Hirtle, New Germany. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by daughter, Mary in infancy; sister, Michelle MacBurnie in infancy; sister-in-law, Pauline Porter; stepbrother, Roy MacBurnie; brother-in-law, Tammie MacKay; niece, Kelly-Ann Porter. There will be no visitation at the funeral home by request. A Service of Remembrance will be held 2 p.m., Monday, January 13 in Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Upper Northfield. Rev. Adam Snook officiating. A reception will follow in Pinehurst Community Hall. Family flowers only, donations may be made to Mount Calvary Lutheran Church or Health Services Foundation of the South Shore – Mental Health unit.
