Rosetta Bailey Obituary

Rosetta Marie Bailey, beloved daughter of the late Walter and Veris Burton, was born on March 16, 1933 in Melfa, Virginia. She was the devoted wife of the late Francis J. Bailey and this union was blessed with four children. Rosetta made her transition from a life of labor to gain her sweet reward on Sunday, January 5, 2020. Rosetta, affectionately known as Rosie, was educated in the public schools of Accomack County. She was employed at Gregg Harriet Shirt Factory for many years until the company closed. She later began working for the Accomack County Food Service department until her retirement. Rosetta wanted to continue to serve the Lord and began to provide care for individuals in their homes. This duty earned her the love and respect from many in the community. Many families appreciated her love and dedication shown to them, especially Sis. Ruth Poulson and the McMillians. At an early age, Rosetta gave her life and confessed her faith in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. She joined and remained an active member of Burton’s Chapel Independent Methodist Church until her health began to fail. Rosetta loved her church and church family. She was a devoted and hard-working member, and this was evident in all that she did for her church. Rosetta served as President of the Senior Choir, President of the Women’s Organization, attended Sunday school and Bible study faithfully. She also served on the kitchen committee, often times volunteering her home to sell dinners for fundraising efforts. Rosetta was preceded in death by her husband, Francis J. Bailey; two daughters, Frances and Delois; and one son, Kelvin. She leaves to cherish great memories and to celebrate her life: one son, Darryl (Helen); twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; three brothers, Wellington, Will Rodgers, and Lewis; three sisters, Jean, Shirley, and Gracie; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
