Alva Junior Perry age 73, of New Castle died Monday morning, December 30th, 2019 from lung cancer after a courageous battle. He was surrounded by his family.
He was born November 27, 1946 in New Castle, the son of the late Alva L. and Ida Mae (Smith) Perry. He was a lifelong New Castle resident. He married his childhood sweetheart, Lilly Faye (Bertram) Perry on June 17, 1965. He retired from Ingersoll Steel Corp with over 33 years of service. He was union president of UAW Local 729 for many years. He had a dry sense of humor and joked with everyone. He was an avid fisherman and mushroom hunter. He enjoyed hunting and trapping in his younger years. He enjoyed traveling with his family and spending time with them.
Left to cherish precious memories are Daughter Dr. Cindy Evans, son Tracy Perry, special granddaughter Lindsay Perry who he and Lilly Faye raised since she was 2 years old, 3 additional grandchildren Connor Evans, Kasey Evans and Heather Golden all of New Castle. Brother Avery (wife Inus) Perry of New Castle, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lilly Faye in 2013, his parents, 5 siblings: Rev. David Perry, Betty Grooms, Edna Edwards, Ruth Denny, James Perry. Daughter in law: Paula (Golden) Perry.
Services will be 11am Friday January 3, 2020 at Macer-Hall Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call on Thursday, January 2, 2020 from 5-7pm at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.Macerhall.com
