Phyllis Notaro Formerly of Brant, NY, passed away Monday December 30, 2019, in Orchard Heights Assisted Living, she was 91. Loving sister of Frances Notaro, the late Bertha Notaro, Nina (Jaroslav) Faltus and Thomas J. (late Josephine) Notaro; aunt of Arline (Anthony) Danial, Joanne (Gary) Jaworek and Margaret (Ronald) Brennan; great aunt of Julia (Tony) Thompson, Jonathan, Joseph Danial, Thomas (Andrea) Jaworek, Olivia (Rafael) Frias, Jacqueline (David) Berning, Merideth (Jordan) Hughes and Jillian (Jake) Ingram; great, great aunt of Aubrey and Owen Thompson, Oliver , Adella Frias, Theodore, Gloria Berning , Grant Jaworek and Estelle Hughes. Friends may call Friday from 3PM - 7PM at the ADDISON FUNERAL HOME, INC. 262 N. Main St. Angola, NY where prayers will be held Saturday at 9:30AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in Most Precious Blood Church, Angola, NY. Phyllis aka “The Girl from Brant” was a Hall of Fame Bowler, engaging in the sport for over 50years. She carried the Buffalo banner across the nation as she bowled in National tournaments and proved she was one of the finest Keglers in America. She is forever enshrined in 3 Bowling Hall of Fames; The Women’s International Bowling Congress (1979), Buffalo Women’s Bowling Association (1986), and the Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame in 1993. She has several national titles to her credit. In 1961 she won the Bowling Proprietors Association of America All-Star Tournament. She entered the “World Series of Bowling “10 times, and was a finalist in the top 16, seven times. She participated in all 8 World Invitational Match Game Tournaments in Chicago, and was a finalist 5 times. She was the runner up in the Tournament of Champions at Madison Square Garden’s in 1961. In 1966 she won the Bowling Proprietors Assoc. of America Doubles Tournament in Buffalo. She has 14 NYS Championship Titles and 26 City of Buffalo Championship titles. Phyllis was elected to the All American Women’s Team in 1958 and 1961. In 1961 she bowled a 300 game and was carrying a 201 average, the Highest in the nation.
