Marvin R. Johnson, age 89 of Sidney, passed away at his home on Friday, December 20, 2019 under the loving care of his family and Spectrum Hospice. Marvin proudly served his county in the United State Army during the Korean Conflict. Marvin loved to be outdoors, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending time in Grand Marias, and looking for Lake Superior agate, arrowheads, and other unique stones. He was also a big baseball fan and liked cheering for his beloved Detroit Tigers. Surviving Marvin is his wife of 67 years, Elaine; daughters, Cheryl (Nick) Springsteen of Greenville; Eulonda (Richard) Rutherford of Fenwick; Tamara (Leo) Davies of Grand Rapids; sons, David (Renee) Johnson of Sidney and Michael Johnson of Sidney; grandchildren, Anna Springsteen; Thomas (Ashley) Springsteen; Joshua (Abby) Rutherford; Britani (Joshua) Guild; Graham (Stephanie) Davies; Andrew (Julie) Davies; Leo (Rebecca) Davies; David (Melissa) Johnson; Jeremiah (Crystal) Johnson; Benjamin (Leeanne) Johnson; Mathew (Brittany) Johnson; Corinna (Dewey) Gainey; Brent (April) Johnson; Kelly Davies; Lennon Davies and Katherine Johnson (Travis Dunn); great grandchildren; Ryan; Schaun; Isabel; Riley; Hadley; Matias; Ayden; Lily; Krystalyn; Abbey; Brandon; Baidon; Claire; Drew; Chelsea; Beau; Evann; Cade; Alok; Raleigh; Idan; Lucas; Owen; Collin; Elaina; Emery; Alexander; Amery; Liam; Mila; brother, Lyle (Marlene) Johnson of Sheridan and Herschel Haling and Berneice Jones, who were his double cousins and they were all raised together. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Rynal & Augusta (Haling) Johnson; sister, Marion Alexander; niece, Marcia Alexander and his cousin, Rynal Haling. A celebration of Marvin’s life is being held on Friday, December 27, 2019 at 10 AM at the Sheridan VFW (209 Washington St.) with Pastor Dennis Ross officiating. In lieu of flowers the family suggest you make a memorial donation in Marvin’s memory to Spectrum Health Hospice.
