North Andover, MA - Ruth Arlene (Fickenworth) Adie, 82, passed on peacefully on August 30, 2012. Ruth was born on February 21, 1930 in Lawrence, MA. She lived the majority of her life in her childhood home in North Andover. Ruth worked at Foster's Farm, Pricilla's Candies and for Victor Pisciatello's Investigative Agency. She at various restaurants she and husband Ralph owned. The most recent being Ye Loft and Ladle in Lawrence, MA where she worked alongside her husband and family. There she was known for making her famous anadama and honey oat breads, carrot cake and fudge cake, to name a few. Ruth was blessed with many talents and gifts such as baking, painting, sketching with pastels, and bird watching, and gardening. She also possessed an operatic voice, on many occasions she use to stand on the porch and call for her children in her soprano voice summoning her younger children home for supper, "Sunday, Tyler, Tobey---Supper" to which the neighbors would be amazed! Ruth was an avid reader and also enjoyed hunting for bargains at specialty shops (always finding that special thing a loved one wanted or needed). She was always eager to help anyone in need, and did so quietly. Her greatest joys were her children and grandchildren. Ruth was a gem and will be sorely missed by her family and friends. Ruth use to have many mottos, this quote being her most spoken one, "Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you." She was truly one in a million! Ruth was the wife of the late Ralph E. Adie Jr. and is survived by her sons Ralph E. Adie III of North Andover, Scott L. Adie and wife Pamela of Sandown, NH, and Lance T. Adie and wife Kate of Bradford; and her daughters Marloe L. Bruno of Exeter, NH, Laurel S. Jaramillo-Galibois and husband Michael of North Andover, and Ruth S. Manzi and husband Mark of Methuen. She also leaves her sister Sharyn Ruprecht of South Lawrence, her two sisters-in-law Ruth Lawson and husband Roy of St. Petersburg, FL, Grace Marie Harris and husband Fred (passed away) of Enid, OK. fourteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Ruth and Ernest, brother Ernest, husband Ralph, and son Ernest Tyler. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend her Graveside Service on Tuesday, September 4th at 11AM in Ridgewood Cemetery, North Andover. Please gather at the main gate on Salem Street. In lieu of flowers, suggestions are: American Heart or Lung Association, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, North Andover MA., NAMI, and MSPCA. With Appreciation.
