<p>John A. Kruser, 94, of Dubuque, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Grand Meadows in Asbury.</p><p><br></p><p>Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Sunday, July 12, 2026 at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory.</p><p><br></p><p>The Mass of Christian Burial for John will be at 11:00 am on Monday, July 13, 2026, at Cathedral of St. Raphael with Father Dennis Quint as the Celebrant. Burial will be at Linwood Cemetery in Dubuque. </p><p><br></p><p>John was born December 26, 1931, in Menominee, IL, the son of Henry and Stella (Brandt) Kruser. He was united in marriage to Darlene Clough on October 13, 1956 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dubuque. She preceded him in death on January 29, 2013. </p><p><br></p><p>John was a supervisor at the Dubuque Packing Company for many years prior to his retirement. He also owned and operated Kruser Excavating of Dubuque for many years.</p><p><br></p><p>John loved dancing, listening to big band music, and spending time with his family. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, and was happiest when he was able to spend time in Wisconsin at his second home with his family. He and his wife loved playing cards with their card club. He was a proud member of the Dubuque Evening Optimist Club.</p><p><br></p><p>Survivors include five children, Vickie (Jonathan Morton) Kruser of San Diego, CA, Jeff (Candace) Kruser of Dubuque, Michele (Mark) Fischer of Peosta, IA, Connie (Tony) Droessler of Dubuque, and Rhonda Kruser of Madison, WI; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; six brothers, Wayne (Betty) Kruser, Mert Kruser, Harvey (Mary Lou) Kruser, Randy Kruser, Gary (Ruth) Kruser, and Bruce (Donna) Kruser; three sisters, Elaine Groom, Bonnie (Bill) Hammel, and Karen (Tom) Van Stedum; sister-in-law, Janet Kruser; and many nieces and nephews.</p><p><br></p><p>Besides his parents and his wife, John was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Natasha Fischer; five brothers, Vernon (Bev) Kruser, Galen Kruser, Francis (Norma Jean) Kruser, Daniel (Rosie) Kruser, Julius Kruser, and in-laws, Dave Groom, Jane Kruser, Carol Kruser, Jim (June) Kelly, and Jim (Helen) Koeneke.</p><p><br></p><p>A memorial has been established for the Dubuque Evening Optimist Club. </p><p><br></p><p>A special thank you to Hospice of Dubuque and Grand Meadows Schrupp House for their care, love, and support.</p><p><br></p><p><iframe height="330" width="512" allow="autoplay; fullscreen" src="https://www.tributeslides.com/videos/embedded_video/RF66KFBFQQRJ7WFW" class="ts_player"></iframe></p>December 26, 1931 - July 7, 202612/26/193107/07/2026
