<p>ARCHDALE- Opal Yarborough DeHart, 88, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.</p><p><br></p><p>She was born on March 1, 1938, in High Point, a daughter of the late Raymond and Hazel Cox Yarborough. A resident of this area all her life, she served her community with the US Postal Service, Trinity, and often along her mail route, she would help those in need. She was a former member of Landmark Baptist Church and attended Trindale Community Church. Opal was part of the group that was instrumental in developing Creekside Park, and she served on the Archdale Parks Committee. She enjoyed reading, going to the Scottish Games, being a member of the Republican party and volunteering in the community. In 1994, she was named volunteer of the year for Randolph County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Dehart.</p><p><br></p><p>She is survived by her daughter, April Hensley; her son, Joel DeHart and his wife, Brenda; her sister, Kathryn Griffin; her granddaughter, Christina Hensley, and a special niece, Nancy DeHart.</p><p><br></p><p>A service to celebrate Opal’s life will be held Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 2 :00 p.m., in the chapel at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale. Pastor Hoyt Mason will officiate. She will be laid to rest in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 12:45 p.m. until 1: 45 p.m., at the funeral home.</p><p><br></p><p>Online condolences may be made on Opal’s tribute page at www.cumbyfuneral.com.</p><p>Services are in the care of Cumby Family Funeral Service of Archdale.</p><p><br></p>
