<p>In Loving Memory of Mary Elizabeth Gaskins</p><p><br></p><p>Mary Elizabeth Gaskins peacefully departed this life at her home on June 4, 2026, at the age of 86.</p><p><br></p><p>Born on October 15, 1939, in Onancock, Virginia, Mary was the beloved daughter of the late Virginia Scarborough and Warner Gaskins. She spent her childhood in Onancock, where she developed the strong values, faith, and sense of community that would guide her throughout her life.</p><p><br></p><p>Mary received her education at John Bartram High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Following graduation, she began her professional career at Lit Brothers Department Store in Philadelphia, where she gained valuable experience and formed many lasting friendships.</p><p><br></p><p>Possessing a remarkable entrepreneurial spirit, Mary partnered with her sister, Nancie Gaskins, to establish Sweet Lady Boutique. Together, the sisters successfully owned and operated the boutique for more than twenty-five years, becoming respected businesswomen in their community. </p><p><br></p><p>After selling the business, Mary and Nancie transitioned into real estate, serving clients as agents with Century 21 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Through their professionalism and dedication, they helped numerous families achieve their dreams of homeownership.</p><p><br></p><p>A woman of deep faith, Mary was a devoted member of Evergreen Baptist Church. Her faith was reflected in her kindness, generosity, and unwavering compassion for others.</p><p><br></p><p>After retiring from her successful real estate career, Mary returned to her beloved Accomack County, Virginia, where she enjoyed reconnecting with family, friends, and the community she loved. During this chapter of her life, she met her devoted companion, Nicholas Polinice, affectionately known as “Paul.” Their relationship brought Mary great joy, companionship, and happiness, and they shared many treasured memories together.</p><p><br></p><p>Mary will be remembered for her elegance, determination, business success, warm smile, and unwavering devotion to family and friends. Her life was a testament to hard work, resilience, faith, and love.</p><p><br></p><p>She was preceded in death by her parents, Virginia Scarborough and Warner Gaskins, and her beloved brother, Edward Lee Gaskins.</p><p><br></p><p>She leaves to cherish her precious memory her loving sister, Nancie Gaskins; her nieces, Cheryl Gaskins and Sid Gaskins; her nephew, Omar Jackson; her beloved companion, Nicholas “Paul” Polinice; her cousins, Elsie Purnell and Marilyn Cook; and a host of extended family members, dear friends, neighbors, and loved ones whose lives were touched by her kindness and grace.</p><p><br></p><p>Though she has departed from our sight, her legacy of faith, perseverance, love, and service will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.</p>
