Today we gather to honor and remember my mother, Patricia — a woman whose love, strength, and devotion to her family defined her life.

She was an amazing woman with a beautiful smile, and her greatest love was her family. She adored her children and was a devoted wife, mother, and a loving grandmother to her three grandchildren — Joseph, Juliet, and Anthony the Third. They brought her endless joy, and she truly lived for them

My mother guided my brother Anthony and me through life with patience, wisdom, and unconditional love. No matter what we were facing, she was always there to listen — without judgment, without interruption, and without ever turning away. She was not only our mother, but our safe place.

She was always there for us, even when distance separated us. Although she lived in Florida, whenever she came to New York she devoted all of her time to caring for me, her daughter, and especially her grandchildren. She spent all of her days with my children — lovingly giving me a much-needed break — and she wouldn’t have had it any other way. The way my children ran to her the moment they saw her was priceless.

She extended that same love and care to her family and friends. She was someone people trusted deeply. She kept secrets. She carried burdens quietly. She was a diary in human form — loyal, understanding, and always present. She never let anyone down, and she was there for everybody, no matter what they needed.

She found happiness in the simple moments — playing her favorite casino games, sitting on her patio, enjoying her cigarettes, and taking time to herself. Those moments brought her peace, but her heart always belonged to her family.

She was a strong, independent, and strong-willed woman. She was successful, determined, and strong-minded, yet she had a beautiful personality that drew people to her. She knew who she was, stood firm in her beliefs, and loved fiercely.

To me, she was not only my mother — she was my best friend. She was my favorite face to see and my favorite voice to hear. She was the person I turned to first, the one who knew me better than anyone, and the one whose presence brought me comfort no matter what I was facing.

Our family has experienced profound loss in a very short period of time. She carried the pain of missing her son every day. A mother’s love never fades, and neither did her grief.

Today, we find comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with Anthony — together again in peace, watching over us with love.

Though our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the time we had with her, for the lessons she taught us, and for the love she gave so freely. Her legacy is love, strength, and devotion to family — and that legacy will live on through all of us.

Mom, you will forever be in our hearts. May you now rest in eternal peace, reunited with those we have already lost, and held in God’s loving embrace.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.
