<p>Ann Mary (Simons) Mackin, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026, in her hometown of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was 97 years old.</p><p></p><p><br></p><p>Born on July 10, 1928, Ann was a lifelong resident of Philadelphia. She graduated from Little Flower High School in 1946 and went on to work as a Bond Teller for the Land Title Company in the years following World War II. Her career took a new direction when she dedicated herself to being a devoted mother and homemaker, nurturing her family with love and care.</p><p><br></p><p>Ann was a passionate fan of the Phillies and Eagles, and she found great joy in baking and gardening. Her adventurous spirit led her to travel extensively, visiting sacred sites in the Holy Land and Lourdes, exploring the beauty of Ireland and the Canadian Rockies, and enjoying Spring Training trips to Florida with her husband, Joseph.</p><p><br></p><p>A faithful member of Saint Martin of Tours Parish for over 45 years, Ann was also involved in her community as a Red Cross Volunteer and an active participant in the Saint Martin of Tours Senior Group and the DeSales Guild. She cherished her connections with fellow alumni of Little Flower High School.</p><p><br></p><p>Ann is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph J. Mackin; her son, Joseph Mackin; and her siblings, Rev. Edward Simons, OSFS, John Simons, Sr. Genevieve Mary Simons, IHM, Joseph Simons, and Rita Liebchen.</p><p><br></p><p>She is survived by her loving children, Francis Mackin, Edward Mackin (Diane), James Mackin (Debbie), and Maryann Johnson (Michael). Ann was a proud grandmother to Christopher and Fiona Johnson and leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews.</p><p><br></p><p>Family and friends are invited to celebrate Ann's life at Saint William Church | 6200 Rising Sun Avenue | Philadelphia, PA 19111, on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. A viewing will be held at 8:30 am, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am, celebrated by Rev. Jack Kolodziej, OSFS.
