<p>James Harold Burnette passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the age of 94. He was born in Vienna, Georgia.</p><p><br></p><p>His parents, James Wilson Burnette and Martha Burnette and his daughter, Kim Thrasher preceded him in death.</p><p><br></p><p>Jim spent his early years going to school and being a soda jerk in a drug store. After graduating from high school at 16, he joined the Air Force (fibbing about his age). He spent a lot of time in Germany before getting discharged. After that he worked for different states in the inspection service. While working in Brooksville he met his wife, Shirley Langworthy and his life was to change. James was an only child, and Shirley had 12 brothers and a sister, and lots of nieces. He fell in love with his acquired family.</p><p><br></p><p>James was a great Dad to his children, Kim Thrasher, James Jr (Debra), Kelly Jackson (Bo). Their first granddaughter Kristen Thrasher was the apple of his eye. After years, along came some more precious grands, David, Colby, and Julianne Jackson, then, Cisco Gallo, James III and Charles Burnette. Now there are 2 great-grands, Jet and Blakely.</p><p><br></p><p>James quit State work and joined USDA in 1961. The family then started their adventure of having to move. First Chicago, then Puerto Rico. After that Washington, D.C., then Montgomery, Alabama. Finally, he retired and moved back to Brooksville where it all started in 1987.</p><p><br></p><p>Jim had received an award from the USDA for always getting along with people.</p><p><br></p><p>He is a Christian and is in God’s hands.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p>
