Brown was born to parents Cork and Virgie Brown on March 8, 1959, and passed away unexpectedly at home on November 1, 2025.

Curt was raised on a wheat and cattle operation near Harrisburg, NE alongside his 4 older siblings. He attended Banner County School and graduated in 1977 and went on to further his education at UNL, graduating with a degree in Political Science.

He was an active member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity while at UNL. This led him to meet his future wife, Tracy (Peters) Brown, during an intramural game. This chance encounter on-campus resulted in a fulfilling 40-year marriage that was highlighted by the births of their two sons, Andrew and Michael. As a family, they enjoyed traveling, concerts, various Husker sports and spending time with both extended families.

Upon graduating from UNL, Curt briefly worked in Denver, CO and Springfield, SD as a rural bank lender. He and Tracy chose to settle in Omaha, NE to start their marriage. Curt enjoyed a very successful career in the capital market divisions of both Farm Credit Services of America and CoBank, before retiring from Farm Credit Services of America in 2023, after 38 years of service.

Curt was known by colleagues and friends, alike, as a mentor and a source of knowledge on numerous subjects. He never knew a stranger and could instantly connect with anyone and everyone. Curt was an advocate for anyone who sought help or guidance.

Among Curt’s greatest loves was time spent on the golf course with coworkers, family, and friends. His career allowed him the opportunity to experience many of the most prestigious courses across the country. While at home, Curt’s favorite pastime was listening to music and grilling steaks on his back deck with his family.

Curt was preceded in death by his parents, Cork and Virgie Brown; and sister-in-law, Peg Brown.

He is survived by his 4 siblings; Carol Greathouse, Sharon (Cal) Bancroft, Linda (Ken) Lorenz, and Rod Brown; his loving wife, Tracy; sons, Andrew and Michael; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In remembrance of Curt, the family requests donations to Challenger Baseball or Ollie Webb Book Club.
