<p><p><b><i>Howard Gordon “Mac” MacMillan III</i></b></p><br> <p><i>May 23, 1959-October 5, 2025</i></p><br> <p><i>ELKHART-Howard “Mac” MacMillan III, 66, passed away October 5, 2025, at Eastlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.&nbsp; He was born May 23, 1959, in Grand Rapids, MI to Howard II &amp; Mary “Cheryl” (Henriksen) MacMillan. He graduated from Memorial High School in 1977.</i></p><br> <p><i>&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Michael MacMillan. Surviving is his son, Shawn (Olyvane) MacMillan, 1 grandson, Gavin, 2 siblings, Catharine (Richard) Walker of Winter Garden, FL, &amp; Thomas R. MacMillan of Elkhart, IN; 4 nephews, Jason Walker, Brian (Stefanie) Walker, Bryce MacMillan, Matthew Wells, 2 nieces, Michal (Shawn) Ruegner, and Alyssa MacMillan, 4 great-nephews, Chayton Ruegner, Ethan Walker, Carson Walker, and Owen Walker, 1 great-niece Hailie (Kyle) Baumgartner,&nbsp;&nbsp;1 sister-in-law, Barbara Newcomer.</i></p><br> <p><i>&nbsp; Mac took great pride in his sobriety of 30 years in A.A., as well as his commitment in sponsoring others striving for sobriety.&nbsp; He spent many years in Ft. Wayne, IN living at the A.A. step house.&nbsp; He eventually moved back to Elkhart, IN to help his brother Tom take care of their father who had Alzheimer’s.&nbsp;</i></p><br> <p><i>&nbsp; On his journey for sobriety, he found Jesus and lived his life loving Christ and keeping his faith strong and committed.&nbsp; He lived by the verse 1 Thessalonians 5:18&nbsp; "Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus."</i></p><br> <p><i>&nbsp; Mac loved playing board games, cards, and playing a good game of Yahtzee with Barb.&nbsp; He enjoyed watching the Vikings, MSU football and Nascar.&nbsp; He never missed a night of watching his favorite show Mash, and watching the Price is Right with Tom.&nbsp;</i></p><br> <p><i>&nbsp; He had fond memories of camping and canoeing as a child with his brothers, sister and father.&nbsp; His best friend and brother Tom lived together over 20 years.&nbsp; Tom also, was Mac’s caregiver for many years.&nbsp; He loved spending time with his son Shawn, daughter-in-law Oly, and grandson Gavin.&nbsp; He also was very fond of his nephews Bryce and Matthew, living with them for the past 16 years.&nbsp; He was very proud of his family, and his greatest loves were his son and grandson.&nbsp;</i></p><br> <p><i>&nbsp; Per his wishes cremation will take place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.&nbsp; Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home has been entrusted with his care.</i></p></p>
