Janice Carol Atkins

Janice Carol Atkins, resident of the Kansas City area, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2019. She was born in San Mateo, CA on November 30, 1947 and was the daughter of Milton Atkins and Marie (Wilcox) Atkins. Janice was a creative soul, and natural born artist. Her artwork has been displayed across the Kansas City Metro area. Along with her artwork, Janice greatly enjoyed creative writing, finishing several books that have yet to be published, and attained a patent for her kaleidoscope designs. Her passion didn’t stop at her creativity. Janice was an active member of her church and various art organizations in the city. She loved bats and supported conservation efforts toward their habitats. She also deeply cared about helping the homeless in Kansas City. Janice was kind, compassionate, and full of love which shone through her artworks and involvement in her community. Preceding her in death are both of her parents, Milton and Marie Atkins, and her memory is survived by a countless number of family and friends. Friends and family are welcomed to gather on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Highland Park Funeral Home, 4101 State Avenue, Kansas City, KS 66102. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM with the funeral service immediately following from 11:00 AM – 12 Noon. Burial will follow at Forest Hill & Calvary Cemetery in Kansas City, MO. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to aid Janice’s family in resolving her final expenses.
