<p>Doug Palmer, age 90, died on August 15, 2025, at Willow Brook Christian Village in Delaware, Ohio following an extended illness. He had been a resident there since 2014. Doug was born in 1935 in Fort Wayne IN to Kenneth and Vera Palmer, now deceased. He graduated from Canton Timken High School and shortly after graduation he joined the Navy for 4 years. He enjoyed the Navy very much and often reminisced about his active service years. After leaving the Navy he enrolled at BGSU in Business, graduating in 1962. He met Elaine Mylar while at BGSU and they were married in 1961 after Elaine had graduated. Doug was employed by the Boy Scouts of America as a District Executive, a buyer for Lazarus Department Store, Executive with the Columbus Apartment Association and then as the President of the Columbus Manufacturing Association. Upon retirement he and Elaine sold or donated their possessions and moved into their RV for 6 years while they traveled in the USA and Canada. While traveling they assisted in building 10 Habitat for Humanity houses and Doug continued to volunteer with this organization for several years in Delaware. They returned to Westerville in 2004 and lived there until moving to Delaware in 2014. While in Westerville they were active members of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church and after moving to Delaware they became active members of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. Doug volunteered at Source Point for several years packing Meals on Wheels in Delaware. He was a friendly outgoing person who enjoyed talking to everyone he met.</p><p><br></p><p>Survivors include 2 sons, Steve (Jane) Palmer of Westerville and Gary (Jennifer)Palmer of Loveland CO, grandchildren Erika McCauslin, Jaclyn Morton, Adam Palmer, Ryan Palmer, Kaya Powell-Peterson, 5 great grandchildren and one brother Kenneth Bruce Palmer (Candy).</p><p><br></p><p>Memorial service will be held at Willow Brook Christian Village, 100 Willow Brook Way South, Delaware OH 43015, at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Willow Brook Foundation, 100 Willow Brook Way, Delaware OH or Habitat for Humanity, 305 Curtis St, Delaware OH 43015</p><p><br></p><p>Special thanks to Centrum Assisted Living, Cherith Nursing Home staff and Tranquility Hospice for their loving care of Doug throughout his illness.</p><p><br></p><p>The Snyder Funeral Homes - Delaware Chapel is honored to serve the Palmer family in their time of need. </p><p><br> </p>
