<p><p><b>Sylvia Dawn Smith, age 89 of Troy, passed away Monday, August 11, 2025. She was born April 16, 1936 in Chillicothe to the late William Harold Viney, Sr. and Dorothy (Powell) Viney.</b></p> <p><b>Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Paul Smith who passed away in 2000; children: Paul Smith, Jr., Timothy Smith, Gary Smith, Terry Smith, Craig Smith, and Renee Clark; as well as her siblings: William Harold Viney, Jr., Robert Viney, Vernon Viney, Charles Viney, Wilbur Viney, Sidney Viney, Russell Viney, Katherine (Viney) Payne Patterson, Betty (Viney) Reed, and Veda (Viney) Hurley.</b></p> <p><b>Those left to cherish Sylvia’s memory include her son Anthony (Paula) Smith of Troy; grandchildren: TJ, Indea, Paul III, Frankie, Britton, Chance, Robbin, Paisley, Daijah, Mya, Timmer, Lawrence, Oronde, Tiara, Meghann, Anthony, Corey, Brandon, and Christopher; as well as numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Sylvia also leaves a host of extended family and close friends whom she held dear, including Tina King of Troy and Selma Snay of Troy.</b></p> <p><b>Sylvia was a member of the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ in Troy. She retired as head of housekeeping for the former Dettmer Hospital.</b></p> <p><b>A funeral service will be held 12:00PM Friday, August 15, 2025 at the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ, Troy with Rev. Charles Carnes officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00AM-12:00PM at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Troy.
