<p>Mass of Christian Burial for Dennis Tomka age 88 of Howells, NE will be on Friday, July 11, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's Nepomucene Catholic Church in Howells, NE. Interment with Military Honors will be in the St. John's Catholic Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the HCC Social Hall. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Vigil Service and Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7:00 p.m., and will continue one hour prior to the service all at the church. Minnick Funeral Home in West Point, NE is assisting the family with the arrangements.</p><p><br></p><p>Dennis passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at Clarkson Community Care Center in Clarkson, NE.</p><p><br></p><p>Dennis Jerome Tomka was born May 29, 1937 at Dodge, NE to Jerome and Gladys (Vrba) Tomka. He attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic School and graduated from Dodge High School in 1955. Dennis served in the United States Army Reserves.</p><p><br></p><p>On November 9, 1963, he was united in marriage to Monica Kaup at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Snyder, NE. After their marriage the couple moved to a farm north of Howells, NE Dennis farmed, raised cattle and hogs, sold feeder pigs, installed grain bins, and drove school bus. He also managed the NFO for a number of years.</p><p><br></p><p>Dennis was a member of St. John’s Nepomucene Catholic Church, and had served as the choir director for a number of years. He was a member of Howells Knights of Columbus Council #5439. He loved to pitch horseshoes, ballroom dance, go fishing, attend tractor pulls, and play cards.</p><p><br></p><p>Survivors include-</p><p>Wife-Monica Tomka of Howells, NE </p><p>Daughter-Sheri and Paul Coufal of Howells, NE and family-</p><p> Austin and Kelsey Coufal and children-Grayson, Jameson, and Savannah</p><p> Eric Coufal</p><p> Hailey and Josh DeMers and son-Leo</p><p>Daughter-Brenda and Dave Belina of Howells, NE and family-</p><p> Clint and Brooke Belina and children-Cadence, Camryn, and Bowen</p><p> Mitch Belina</p><p>Daughter-Sue and Dave Bart of Elkhorn, NE and family-</p><p> Amy and Chris Holtman and daughter-Zoey</p><p> Mandy Bart</p><p> Kari Bart</p><p>Son-Kenny Tomka of Columbus, NE and family-</p><p> Stephanie and Jeff Wood and children-Jessie, Michael, Hunter, Bailey, and Nicole</p><p> Shayne Tomka</p><p>Brother-David and Denise Tomka of Kearney, NE</p><p>Sister-in-law-Kathy Tomka of West Point, NE</p><p>Numerous nieces and nephews also survive him.</p><p><br></p><p>Dennis was preceded in death by his parents-Jerome and Gladys Tomka, brother-Donald Tomka, sister-Janet (Paul) Pekarek, and infant granddaughters-Nevaeh and Mariah Tomka.</p>
