<p>Neva Marguerite (Cumbest) Dryden, 98, a lifelong resident of Moss Point, MS, passed away on July 5, 2025. She was born July 21, 1926, to the late Mack Elvis Cumbest and Florrie Goff Cumbest.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Herbert L. Dryden, her husband of 69 years, and her sister, Myrlene Shemper.</p><p><br></p><p>Neva is survived by her sons, Mack (Teri) Dryden, Daryl (Donna) Dryden, and Timothy (Deana) Dryden; her grandchildren, Emily (Wade) Wilkes, and Sarah Rumery, Brittany (Richard) Hart, Griffin Frazen and Spencer Frazen, and Tim and Deana’s amazing brood: Mathias (Kelsey) Dryden, Miriam (Ben) Lupton, Micah, Wade and Emma Dryden. Her great-grandchildren are Hayes, Myles, Liam, Aven, Callum, Dean, and Olivia. She is also survived by her three close and loving sisters: Gail (Benny) Lassiter, Joan (Tommy, deceased) Smith, and Faye (Bill) Sullivan, along with numerous nieces and nephews.</p><p><br></p><p>Neva and Herbert were sweethearts at Moss Point High School, and her skills and personality soon landed her a good secretarial job at Ingalls Shipbuilding Corporation during WWII. With the arrival of her first child, she became a devoted mother and homemaker and was a doting, beloved matriarch to her extended family until her passing. She was a member of Kreole Methodist Church for decades, where she also taught Sunday School, then became an active member of Caswell Springs Methodist Church. She loved her church families. She also served on the Singing River Hospital Auxiliary for over 30 years.</p><p><br></p><p>The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to nurses of the Ocean Springs Hospital and to Hospice of Light in Ocean Springs for their excellent care and kindness to the family. They would also like to thank the attentive Staff, as well as Neva's friends, at Truewood Assisted Living in Ocean Springs, for making her time there so comfortable and enjoyable.</p><p><br></p><p>Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Caswell Springs Methodist Church, 18601 Highway 63, Moss Point, followed by an 12 p.m. service led by Rev. Bobby Morris.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Caswell Springs Methodist Church, 18601 MS-63, Moss Point, MS, in Neva's precious memory.</p><p><br></p><p>Heritage Funeral Home, locally owned and operated in Moss Point/ Escatawpa, MS, is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Neva Marguerite Cumbest Dryden.</p><p><br></p>
