Linda Jean Brunelle

Menands - Linda J. Brunelle, a devoted nurse, loving mother, and proud grandmother, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2025, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, NY, at the age of 71, following a sudden illness. A lifelong resident of Menands, NY, Linda was born on March 11, 1954, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Troy, NY, the daughter of the late J. Leonard Brunelle and Ann D. Brunelle (Dennin).

Linda was a graduate of the Memorial School of Nursing, Class of 1987. She found her life’s calling in nursing, beginning her career caring for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy before transitioning to post-operative care at Albany Memorial Hospital; a place she loved deeply. Though disability ended her active nursing career prematurely, she proudly maintained her license and never stopped identifying as a nurse. Her compassion and dedication extended beyond her career, particularly in the years she lovingly cared for her mother until her passing in 2012.

Fiercely devoted to her family, Linda was known as a loving mother to her children Brian Rozmierski and Shannon McClary, and an adoring “La La” to her grandchildren Timothy Rozmierski, Ian McClary, and Kaitlyn McClary. Her one unbreakable rule for her children was that they never call her by her first name; a rule challenged only once, humorously, when one grandchild was encouraged to try at the age of two. By the end of her life, however, she embraced her new title of “La La” with pride.

Linda’s days were often filled with the aroma of fresh coffee and the voice of Neil Diamond playing in the background, two simple pleasures that brought her immense joy. Her family and friends will remember her for her strength, wit, deep sense of pride in her nursing work, and the love she radiated to those closest to her.

She is survived by her sister Corinne "Connie" Brunelle; her children Brian Rozmierski and Shannon McClary; her grandchildren Timothy, Ian, and Kaitlynn; and her nephew Ryan Foley. She was predeceased by her parents, J. Leonard and Ann Brunelle, her sister Diane Brunelle, and her brother Charles (Chuck) Brunelle.

A private ceremony for immediate family will take place prior to her interment alongside her parents and brother at St. Agnes Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Linda’s memory to the American Cancer Society.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the care team at St. Peter’s Hospital, especially the nurses and respiratory therapists whose kindness and professionalism brought comfort during Linda’s final days. A special thanks also to Neil Diamond, whose music brought her joy right to the end.
