<p><p>Sherry Kiefel, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away in Lacey, Washington on</p><p>Monday, June 30, 2025 at the age of 82.</p><p><br></p><p>Sherry (Phillips) was born on March 7, 1943 in Snoqualmie Falls, Washington and graduated</p><p>from Mt. Si High School in 1961. While in high school, she was an enthusiastic member of the</p><p>Mt. Si Pep Club and was the Fall City Derby Day Queen in 1957. After graduating, she attended</p><p>Washington State University and subsequently worked at American Hospital Supply, where she</p><p>met her future husband, Rolland Kiefel. They were married on August 14, 1965 and started a</p><p>family. The couple moved from Kirkland, Washington with their two daughters to Issaquah,</p><p>Washington in 1974, where they became active members of Our Savior Lutheran Church. The</p><p>couple resided there until 2016, at which time they moved to their current home in Lacey,</p><p>Washington.</p><p><br></p><p>In 2008, Rollie and Sherry also purchased a home in the Viewpoint 55+ Retirement community</p><p>of Mesa, Arizona, where they spent their winter months enjoying the sun and social life. During</p><p>these winter months in Mesa, Sherry was a member of the Love of Christ Lutheran Church.</p><p>From 1976-1990, Sherry worked as the Parish Secretary for Our Savior Lutheran Church in</p><p>Issaquah, and in 1990, she became the Administrative Assistant to the Sisters of St. Joseph of</p><p>Peace in Bellevue, Washington. At both places, Sherry loved helping others, supporting the</p><p>clerical staff, and serving the communities. During this time, Sherry also became an Associate in</p><p>Ministry (ie Deacon) for the American Lutheran Church and served in this position until 2004.</p><p>Additionally, she served the church as an NWWA Synod Secretary and Chair, and she was a</p><p>member of the Association of Professional Lutheran Lay mInisters, an ELCA Board President,</p><p>and an AIM representative.</p><p><br></p><p>Throughout her life, Sherry loved travelling with Rollie to their favorite vacation spots in Hawaii,</p><p>Ocean Shores, and Leavenworth; going on cruises; spending time with family; nurturing the</p><p>hummingbirds in her backyards; tending to her flower box gardens; reading her Christian</p><p>devotionals as well as the latest Best Sellers on her Kindle; and sipping her daily, very</p><p>personalized Starbucks Iced Lattes (“Venti-Vanilla-Almond Milk-One Splenda-Light Ice-Dome</p><p>Lid”). She was known for her peaceful and graceful demeanor, her kind and caring personality,</p><p>and her welcoming smile. She will be truly missed.</p><p><br></p><p>Sherry is survived by her loving and very devoted husband of almost 60 years, Rolland Kiefel;</p><p>her daughters Keli (Ken) Gritter and Whitney (Scott) Pomeroy; her grandchildren Maegan</p><p>Gritter, Dyllan (Hayley) Gritter, Logan Gritter, and Taylor Pomeroy; and her sister Pam (Rick)</p><p>Howitt.</p><p><br></p><p>A memorial service &amp; reception to follow will be held August 30th at Woodlawn Funeral Home 5930 Mullen Rd SE, Lacey, WA, 98503 from 11am-1pm</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, the family</p><p>invites you to make a charitable donation to a charity of your choice or to plant a tree in her</p><p>memory.</p></p>
