<p>Jeannette Marie Thornton, 101, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025, in Niles, Michigan, surrounded by her family.</p><p><br></p><p>Jeannette was born on March 10, 1924, in Niles, Michigan to the late Andrew Raymond Crandall and Jeannette Marie (Sablѐ) Crandall.</p><p><br></p><p>Along with her parents, Jeannette was preceded in death by her loving husband of many years, Jack E. Thornton; daughter-in-law, Cindy Thornton; granddaughter, Kelly Jean Duncan; sister, Ramona Bartels, and brother, Charles Crandall.</p><p><br></p><p>Left to cherish the memory of Jeannette are her children, Linda (Dudley Garcia) Duncan, Gale (Kenneth) Risner, and Steve Thornton; grandchildren, Paula (Tim Bickel) Peacock, Tracy Peacock, and Larry (Anna) Mavromatis Duncan, and great grandchildren, Kelly (Collin Esary) Bickel, Bailey Bickel, and Raleigh Mavromatis Duncan.</p><p><br></p><p>Throughout her life, Jeannette was known for her love of adventure and leisure. She enjoyed golfing and bowling, finding joy in the thrill of the game and the camaraderie of friends. An avid nature enthusiast, she spent many weekends mushroom hunting, always eager to share her discoveries with loved ones. Sundays were reserved for excitement at the casino, where she loved to try her luck and enjoy the lively atmosphere.</p><p><br></p><p>Jeannette took immense pride in her family, finding joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were a constant source of happiness. Her passions extended to gardening, where she cultivated a beautiful home filled with vibrant blooms, as well as reading and crafting, showcasing her creative spirit.</p><p><br></p><p>Visitation for Jeannette will be on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Brown Funeral Home, 521 East Main St. Niles, Michigan.
