<p>Tomas G. Perez, a cherished family man, respected law enforcement officer, and passionate lover of baseball and music, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2025, in Uvalde, Texas, at the age of 86. Born on September 22, 1938, in Gregory, Texas, Tomas was a beacon of intelligence, spirit, and selflessness throughout his life. Tomas's early years in Gregory were filled with the joys of small-town life.</p><p><br></p><p> His dedication to family was evident, a trait that he carried with him throughout his life. After completing his education, Tomas embarked on a distinguished career in law enforcement, a calling that allowed him to serve and protect the community he held so dear. </p><p><br></p><p>Throughout his life, Tomas's love for his wife, Maria Ines Perez, was unwavering. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter, raising their sons Tomas (Herlinda), Ricardo (Enedina), Rafael (Bianca), and their daughter Maria Herlinda Ramos (Patricio). Tomas was a guiding light in their lives, instilling in them the values of integrity and compassion. </p><p><br></p><p>Tomas was a proud grandfather to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy. His legacy of kindness and generosity will live on through them. He was a beloved brother to Hector Cortez, Juan Cortez, and Diana Pat Cortez, sharing with them a lifetime of memories and an unbreakable bond. </p><p><br></p><p>Tomas's interests were a reflection of his vibrant spirit. He found solace in the melodies of music and often filled the family home with song. His voice was a testament to his joyous approach to life. A lifelong baseball fan, he cherished the moments spent cheering on his favorite teams and sharing the excitement with his loved ones. </p><p><br></p><p>Preceded in death by his parents, Herlindo Perez and Petra Cortez, and his siblings Jose Cortez, Roberto Cortez, Alicia Cortez and grandson Lucas Jon Perez, Tomas's memory will be honored by all who knew him. His intelligence shone through in his thoughtful conversations, his spirited nature was evident in his infectious laughter, and his selflessness was seen in the countless lives he touched.</p><p><br></p><p>Tomas G.
