<p>Ellen L. Barbee Whittaker, 80, of Hannibal, MO, passed away at 3:08 PM, Friday, May 30, 2025, at her home.</p><p><br></p><p></p><p>Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Friday, June 6, 2025, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO. Rev. Michael Miller will officiate.</p><p><br></p><p></p><p>Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Hannibal, MO.</p><p><br></p><p></p><p>Friends and Family are invited to Ellen's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be Thursday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.</p><p><br></p><p></p><p>Ellen was born October 15, 1944, in Hannibal, MO to Carl Barbee and Irene Sloan Barbee Dalton.</p><p><br></p><p></p><p>She was raised by her mother and step-father, George Dalton.</p><p><br></p><p>Ellen was previously married to Stanley G. Rouse. He preceded her in death on September 15, 1985.</p><p><br></p><p></p><p>She later married to Thomas E. Whittaker on February 2, 1991. He preceded her in death on February 3, 2014.</p><p><br></p><p></p><p>Surviving are two daughters: Nora Dodd (Richard Sr.) of Hannibal, MO, and Julie Rouse of Hannibal, MO; six grandchildren: Christopher Rouse Sims (Sarah), Richard Dodd Jr. (Amie), Jared Dodd (Megan), Shad Rouse, Emily Donelson (Joey), and Michael Dodd (Abby); 11 great grandchildren, Masen Sims, Ellena Sims, Jaxen Sims, Carson Engle, Kenny Harness, Jared Dodd Jr., Charlee Dodd, Josie Dodd, Kynleigh Donelson, Talon Donelson and Michael Dodd Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews.</p><p><br></p><p></p><p>Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather who raised her, George Dalton; her son, Johnny E. Rouse; her brother, Carl B. Barbee; and two great-granddaughters: Emaleigh Rose Dodd and Addisyn Mae Dodd.</p><p><br></p><p></p><p>Ellen was a customer service representative for Walmart, retiring after 24 years.</p><p><br></p><p></p><p>A shopper at heart, Ellen enjoyed adventures to local thrift stores looking for the next treasure or cute outfit, usually for her great grandchildren. Occasional visits to the casino to play the slots, the music of Elvis and online shopping were a few of Ellen’s favorites. She also loved to color and took great pleasure in her creations. Western shows and movies were usually on Ellen’s TV to entertain her. With a well-known sweet tooth, Fastbreak candy bars, cinnamon rolls and cheesecake were at the top of Ellen’s list. Most of all, Ellen cherished her family and always looked forward to the times that they could share together.</p><p><br></p><p></p><p>Memorial contributions may be made to the Hannibal Salvation Army or the Northeast Missouri Humane Society.</p><p><br></p><p></p><p>Pallbearers will be Chris Sims, Emily Donelson, Richard Dodd Jr., Jared Dodd Sr., Michael Dodd Sr., Shad Rouse, Michael Dodd Jr., Jared Dodd Jr., Masen Sims, and Jaxen Sims.</p><p><br></p><p></p><p>Honorary pallbearers will be Carson Engle, Kenny Harness, and Richard Dodd Sr.</p>
