<p style="text-align: center;">SANDRA PETTI</p><p style="text-align: center;">APRIL 20, 1950 – MAY 11, 2025</p><p>Sandra Louise (nee Shaw) Petti, loving mother and grandmother and long-time school nurse for Aurora City Schools in Aurora, Ohio, died on May 11th. Sandra was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania to Hewitt B. (Sr.) and M. Louise (nee Colliflower) Shaw, both who predeceased her.</p><p>Sandra’s two loving children, whom she raised in Aurora, survive her – Elizabeth Millay of Pittsburgh (husband Jeremy and children Bennett and Preston) and Matthew Petti of Columbus (wife Priya Amin). She is also survived by her brother Hewitt B. Shaw, Jr. of Hudson, Ohio (wife Paula and their children Andrew, Rebecca and Amanda).</p><p>Sandra was wholly-devoted to her children and grandchildren (known to them as “Mimi”) and visited with them frequently. She loved cooking and celebrating the holidays with her family, and was known for her recreations of family recipes and thoughtful gift giving. Sandra was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, where she played in the bell choir, and spent fall weekends at Aurora High School football games (in large part to see the halftime marching band show). Sandra spent many summers vacationing with her children and extended family in Bethany Beach, Delaware.</p><p>Throughout her career, Sandra touched countless lives by providing medical care and support. A graduate of The Pennsylvania State University nursing school, Sandra began her career at University Hospitals of Cleveland in adult medicine and later became the nurse for the cranial-facial clinic. After working for University Hospitals, Sandra worked for Hattie Larlham providing care for individuals with disabilities. She later received her school nursing certification from Cleveland State University and became the nurse for Aurora City Schools in 1995. While working as the school nurse in Aurora, Sandra spent her evenings educating aspiring nurses at Fortis College. Sandra served as the school nurse in Aurora for thirty years until her recent death and was a founding member of the Aurora Schools Foundation.</p><p>Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21st, at Busch-Romito Funeral Home in Hudson, Ohio. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 22nd, at Hudson United Methodist Church.
