<p>Larry E. Rumsey, 83, of Aurora, Indiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 7, 2025.<br></p><p><br></p><p>Born in Moores Hill, Indiana, Larry entered this life on April 29, 1942. He was the son of Robert L. and Lillian C. (Simpson) Rumsey. He was raised in Dearborn County and was an 1960 graduate of Aurora High School. Larry was inducted into the United States Army January 7, 1964 and was discharged on January 6, 1966 from Red River Army Depot, Texarkana, Texas. Larry will be remembered for his warm heart, quick smile and unwavering commitment to family and friends.</p><p><br></p><p>On June 5, 1965 Larry was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Loraine Shuter at St. John Lutheran Church in Aurora. Their family was blessed with daughters Mary Jane, Sara, and Lori and son David. Larry was employed by Monsanto Co. and retired from Bayer 38 years later as an electrical foreman. Larry enjoyed working on the family farm in Mt. Sinai, Indiana. He was a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Aurora, with his family. He served his church as an elder, trustee and school board member, and served on the Dearborn County 4-H board.</p><p><br></p><p>Larry will be missed by his loving wife of 60 years, Loraine J. Rumsey, daughters Sara (Eric) Miller and Lori Rumsey Mueller and son David (Shelly) Rumsey, grandchildren Charlie Day, Jacob Day, Mia Miller, Mason Miller, Nathan Mueller and Elizabeth Brown; his brothers Ronald (Charlotte) Rumsey, Wayne (Linda) Rumsey, sister-in-law Opal Rumsey and many nieces, nephews and friends.</p><p><br></p><p>Larry was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Mary Jane Day, brother Leland Rumsey, sister Janice Patterson and brother-in-law Mike, and niece Kathy Rumsey.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Larry’s memory to St. John Lutheran Church, the Aurora Emergency Unit or charity of your choice.</p><p><br></p><p>Visitation from 4-7 pm on Monday, May 12 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 220 Mechanic Street, Aurora, Indiana. Funeral Services will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, at the Church, with Christian burial at River View Cemetery. All who knew Larry are welcome to attend and celebrate his life.</p><p><br></p>
