<p>Cornelius “Neal” Cecil Dahl, 75, of Marshalltown, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.</p><p><br></p><p>Cremation rites have been accorded and a burial for Neal will take place at a later time at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Neal and his family.</p><p><br></p><p>Cornelius Cecil Dahl was born on February 11, 1950 in Oelwein, Iowa. He was the son of John Patrick and June Harriet (Schneider) Dahl. Neal graduated from Dowling Catholic High School in 1968. He served his country in the United States Navy from August of 1971 until his honorable discharge in December of 1975. After his discharge he was employed by the United States Postal Service for over 25 years.</p><p><br></p><p>Neal was an avid sports fan. His favorite teams were the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Atlanta Braves, the Chicago Bears and the Chicago Cubs.</p><p><br></p><p>Neal loved music--especially the blues. He and his friends would meet at Mullets Restaurant for breakfast every Friday and then have a jam session afterwards with all of them singing their favorite oldies.</p><p><br></p><p>Neal is survived by his siblings: Denise Dahl and Teresa Dahl and his nieces and nephews: Steve, John Prentice, Heidi, Tim, Matt, John Allen, Mary, Elizabeth, John Thomas, Anne, Randy, Kaitlin and Gabriel. He will also be missed by his close friends: Jack, Jeff, Mick, Bruce, Sue, and Greg along with other extended family members and friends.</p><p><br></p><p>Neal is preceded in death by his parents: John and June and siblings: Patrick, Michael, Diane, and Kathleen.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p>February 11, 1950 - April 29, 202502/11/195004/29/2025
