C’est avec le cœur lourd que nous regrettons d’annoncer le décès de Denise Thibeault (née St-Jean), à l’âge de 89 ans, le 29 avril 2025, avec sa famille à ses côtés. Ayant grandi à Val-Saint-Gilles, au Québec, elle a déménagé à Kapuskasing à l’âge de 17 ans et y a fondé sa famille. Elle était une mère aimante et bienveillante, toujours prête à écouter, qui mettait les besoins de ses enfants en premier. Une épouse admirable et dévouée, elle a pris soin de son mari lorsqu’il était au foyer Extendicare en le visitant deux fois par jour pendant plus de cinq ans. Une mèmère adorée de ses petits-enfants, elle a accueilli plusieurs d’entre eux pour dîner chez elle, tous les jours, lors de leurs années au secondaire. Son foyer était un endroit chaleureux et rassurant. Elle aimait jouer aux cartes, lire des romans, regarder ses émissions préférées, faire des casse-têtes et cuisiner des tourtières qu’elle offrait à sa famille. On se souviendra de son grand cœur et de son rire contagieux. Les moments mémorables où elle se réunissait entre frères et sœurs laissaient toujours place à de nombreux fous rires et à des compétitions de jeux de cartes amicales jusqu’aux petites heures du matin. Denise laisse dans le deuil ses enfants : Nicole Alary (feu Jérôme), Carole Lafontaine (Ernie), René « Piton » Thibeault (Jeannette) et Michel Thibeault (Darlene); ses soeurs et frères : Doris, Marie-Paule, Yolande, Monique, Jean-Paul et Marcel; ses petits-enfants : Steve, Shawna, Amy-Lou, Kim, Nathalie, Nancy, Jason, Candice, Cynthia et Cassandra; ainsi que neuf arrière-petits-enfants et plusieurs neveux et nièces. Elle fut prédécédée par son époux, Roland; ses sœurs, Réjeanne, Florence, Lilianne et Marguerite; ses frères, Yves et André; et ses petits-fils, Ricky et Jesse. Selon ses volontés, aucune célébration ne sera organisée. La famille vous invite à garder Denise dans vos pensées et dans vos cœurs et, comme témoignage de sympathie, à faire un don en sa mémoire à La cuisine Bedaine pleine, un organisme communautaire qu’elle aimait et qui la représente bien. Pour Denise aussi, nourrir son monde se voulait une expression d’amour et de gratitude. Que sa belle âme repose en paix. It is with a heavy heart that we regret to announce the passing of Denise Thibeault (nee St-Jean), at the age of 89 years, on April 29, 2025, with her family by her side. Having grown up in Val-Saint-Gilles, Quebec, she moved to Kapuskasing when she was 17 years old and it is there that she founded her family. She was a loving and caring mother, always willing to lend an ear and to put her children's needs before her own. An admirable and devoted wife, she took care of her husband when he was at the Extendicare nursing home by visiting him twice a day for over five years. A mèmère adored by her grandchildren, she welcomed many of them to her place for lunch, every day, during their high school years. Her apartment was a warm and comforting safe space. She enjoyed playing cards, reading novels, watching her favourite shows, doing puzzles and cooking meat pies for her family. She will be remembered for her big heart and contagious laugh. The memorable moments when she would get together with her siblings always gave way to many fits of laughter and friendly card game competitions until the late hours of the night. Denise is survived by her children: Nicole Alary (late Jérôme), Carole Lafontaine (Ernie), René "Piton" Thibeault (Jeannette) and Michel Thibeault (Darlene); her siblings: Doris, Marie-Paule, Yolande, Monique, Jean-Paul and Marcel; her grandchildren: Steve, Shawna, Amy-Lou, Kim, Nathalie, Nancy, Jason, Candice, Cynthia and Cassandra; as well as nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Roland; her sisters, Réjeanne, Florence, Lilianne and Marguerite; her brothers, Yves and André; and her grandsons, Ricky and Jesse. As per her wishes, no celebration will be organized. The family invites you to keep Denise in your hearts and thoughts, and as an expression of sympathy, to make a donation in her memory to the Warm Belly Kitchen – a local charity she supported and that represents her well. For Denise, too, feeding people was an expression of love and appreciation. May her beautiful soul rest in peace.
