John Paul Harless

John Paul Harless was brought into this world on August 30th, 1966, to John and Patricia Harless in Ceres, California. He was called to rest on April 21st, 2025. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Alberta Harless and sister Lisa Oliver. In departure, he leaves behind his wife of 34 years Tereesa, and their 6 children, John “Chipper”, Rhett, Abigail, William, Michiah and Gideon. He is survived by his brothers Joshua “Cooper”, Julio, and Jordan Harless, his sister April Cervantes, their spouses along with nieces and nephews. As well as his father John “Bucky”, his mother Patricia and stepmother Gloria Harless.

Building a strong relationship with his grandparents, John attended church at Liberty and became heavily invested in the scriptures, with a strong connection to his grandfather Richard. During his teenage years, he found his love and passion for the game of basketball. He quickly grasped the sport and helped pave a way of success for Ceres during his time in high school. John took his talents to the collegiate level and brought it as far as a semi pro league.

In 1991, after finding his true love, John put down the basketball and married his best friend Tereesa Miles on April 10th, 1992, but a month prior he had surrendered to the ministry. In 1996, after having his firstborn son, John “Chipper” in 1995, John received his first opportunity at being a pastor in Palmdale, California. During their time in Palmdale, he and Tereesa welcomed their second son, Rhett and later their daughter, Abigail.

In 2004, John moved his growing family to Arkansas to continue their ministry. In the 10 years of living in the south, John and Tereesa welcomed three more sons into the world, William, Michiah and Gideon. During the summer of 2014, John and his family moved back home to California to be closer to the rest of the family and to wrap up their ministry in Sacramento.

After 22 years of being a pastor who actively taught four different churches, John looked towards developing a better and closer relationship with the Most High. John was a strong believer and advocate for the scripture, seeking a deeper understanding.

Throughout his life John wanted to be a provider for his family. He was a strong and self-sufficient man that took pride in being a rock for his family. In his latter days, he grew tired and weary as he had become ill. After battling his disease, on April 21st 2025, the Most High looked upon him and called him back. “My humble servant, you have fought the good fight, now your mission is complete. You no longer have to suffer, you may have your rest now.” To everyone who knew John, may his memory be a blessing.
