<p>James Arthur Hennessey, 84, of Waterloo, died Sunday, April 20, 2025 at MercyOne Medical Center in Waterloo.</p><p><br></p><p>He was born June 9, 1940 in Waterloo, the son of James F. and Loreen Casey Hennessey. He married Dora Ann Quinn on April 20, 1963 in Phoenix, Ariz.</p><p><br></p><p>James attended Camelback High School and enlisted in the United States Army Reserves. He was employed at John Deere, working in the foundry for 30 years, retiring in 1999. James was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Cedar Valley Lions Club and Ancient Order of Hibernians. He enjoyed watching college sports and spending time with his family.</p><p><br></p><p>Survived by: his wife; his daughter, Sheila Hennessey of Marion; two grandchildren, Julia and Charlotte Gilkey of Minneapolis, Minn.; a sister, Mary Ellen Hennessey of Phoenix, Ariz.; and three brothers, John, Patrick and Michael (Patty) Hennessey all of Phoenix, Ariz.</p><p><br></p><p>Preceded in death by: his parents; and three brothers, Bill, Richard and Robert Hennessey.</p><p><br></p><p>Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 25th, St. Edward Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by the Evansdale Amvets Post 31, assisted by the Iowa Army Honor Guard. Public visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 24th, at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway where there will be a 4:00 p.m. Rosary. Visitation also one hour prior to the Mass on Friday at the church.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>The Mass will be livestreamed on the parish website: www.sted.org.</p><p><br></p><p>Memorials may be directed to Catholic Charities.</p><p><br></p>
