<p>Elizabeth Ann Norkus, 74, of Buckhannon, WV, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Holbrooks Heath Care in Buckhannon.</p><p><br></p><p>She was born in Troy, NY, on January 1, 1951, a daughter of the late Walter James Elkins and Elizabeth Cecelia Simmons Elkins. On December 27, 1986, she married George Zenon Norkus, celebrating over 38 years together. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Walter Elkins and James Elkins; and one sister, Barbara Elkins.</p><p><br></p><p>Forever cherishing their memories of Elizabeth with her husband are four children: Christine Elkins and husband, Greg, of Buckhannon, George Norkus, III of Troy, NY, Jennifer Norkus and husband, Justin, of Rock Cave, and Nicole Norkus of Troy, NY; and two grandchildren: Leyla Rollins and Lorelai Rollins.</p><p><br></p><p>Elizabeth's life was filled with achievements that reflected her dedication and resilience. She was a proud graduate of Mechanicville High School in NY in 1969 and went on to pursue higher education at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY. Elizabeth's academic journey was a testament to her intellectual curiosity and her unwavering commitment to personal growth. As Albert Einstein once said, "Intellectual growth should commence at birth and cease only at death." Elizabeth lived this adage, striving for learning and growth throughout her life. Elizabeth was known for her enchanting garden, a reflection of her love for nature and its creatures. Her home was always filled with the laughter of loved ones and the joyful chatter of the animals she held dear.</p><p><br></p><p>Friends and family will gather for visitation on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 11:00 a.m.– 1:00 p.m. at Clutter Funeral and Cremation located at 21 Elnora Circle in Buckhannon. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the Clutter Funeral Home Chapel.
