<p>Ellen “Lucille” Propst Shook, age 98 of Maiden passed away peacefully Friday, April 18, 2025 at her residence.</p><p><br></p><p>She was born May 25, 1926 in Catawba County and was the daughter of the late James and Elva Mullinax Propst. She was a member of St. Matthews Reformed Church in Maiden. In addition to her parents, her husband, Glenn “Buck” Eugene Shook; son, Ronnie Shook; 6 brothers, Nelson, Bill, Frank, Lloyd, John and Donald Propst and sister, Alene Boston preceded her in death.</p><p><br></p><p>Left to cherish her memory:</p><p><br></p><p>2 Sons: Gary Shook and wife, Aliene of Maiden; Rick Shook and wife, Sug of Maiden</p><p><br></p><p>Daughter: Glenda Mercer and husband, John of Valdese</p><p><br></p><p>Daughter-In-Law: Susan Shook of Maiden</p><p><br></p><p>Brother: Melvin Propst of Greensboro</p><p><br></p><p>Caretaker: Sherry Bradley of Maiden</p><p><br></p><p>13 Grandchildren; 22 Great-Grandchildren; 9 Great, Great Grandchildren</p><p><br></p><p>The funeral service will be held, Sunday, April 20, 2025 at 3:00 PM at St. Matthews Reformed Church in Maiden with Pastor William Sowers officiating.</p><p><br></p><p>Burial will follow in the church cemetery.</p><p><br></p><p>The family will receive friends Saturday, April 19, 2025 at St. Matthews Reformed Church Fellowship Hall from 5:00 – 7:00 PM.</p><p><br></p><p>Memorials may be made to: American Diabetes Association diabetes.org and/or Carolina Caring</p><p><br></p><p>Burke Mortuary in Maiden is serving the Shook Family.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p>
