<p>With one final loving gaze at his wife, and with his children holding his hands, Michael A. McNamee III took his last breath on April 9th, 2025 at the age of 84.</p><p><br></p><p>Michael was born on October 18th, 1940 in Bay Shore (Long Island), New York to Michael Jr and Anna (nee Punda) McNamee. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Lou, in June 1961, to whom he remained devoted through 63 years of marriage; their union created a legacy of six children, thirteen grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.</p><p><br></p><p>Michael, the first in his family to attend college, had an impactful construction career. He moved to the Milwaukee area to construct the original Children’s Hospital of Milwaukee (1989). Later, as the Senior Vice-President of Construction for Grunau Project Development, and then Gilbane Building Company, his work on innovative projects in the Milwaukee area included the expansion of Columbia-St. Mary’s Hospital (1995), the construction of the Milwaukee Humphrey IMAX Dome Theater (1996), the expansion of Sinai Samaritan Hospital (1998), the construction of Potawatomi Casino (2000), the historic and award-winning renovation of The Milwaukee Theater (2003), and the construction of the Bio-Medical Research Center at the Medical College of Wisconsin (2004) before his retirement in 2006.</p><p>Michael was nominated at the national level as the Project Manager of the Year for his work in historic restoration of The Milwaukee Theater.</p><p><br></p><p>Michael was known as a great storyteller. His real love was for his wife and his family, to whom he gave selfless support, countless memories, and laughter. He was a devout Catholic and a proud life-long member of the Knights of Columbus.</p><p><br></p><p>Michael was preceded in death by both of his parents, his sister Virginia “Ginny” Brett, and numerous friends.</p><p><br></p><p>Michael is survived by his wife Mary Lou (nee Cassella) McNamee, his son Michael (Becky) McNamee, son Mark (Judy) McNamee, daughter Joanna (Brett) Masarik, daughter Jennifer (Adam) Gerber, daughter Melissa (Mike) Mitchell, and son Keith (Stephanie) McNamee; grandchildren Kelli (Terek) Campbell, David (Sarah) McNamee, Peter (Meredith) McNamee, Ryan (Kelley) McNamee, Michael McNamee, Lauren Masarik, Ethan Masarik, Courtney Masarik, Reagan Gerber, Reese Mitchell, Emily Canales, Ian McNamee, and Owen McNamee; and great-grandchildren Miera, Sawyer, Clara, Elliana, Caleb, Audrey, Emma, and Amelia. Michael is further survived by his sister Jane (Claus) Hauptvogel, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.</p><p><br></p><p>Services will be held at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend, Wisconsin on Wednesday, April 23rd with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Visitation with family beginning at 10 am.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, the family asks for consideration of donation to The American Cancer Society to support lifesaving research, treatment, and care to help fight for a world without cancer.</p><p><br></p><p>The Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend is serving the family.
