<p>Philip J. Marnella, 65, of Erie, passed away on Tuesday, April 8th 2025.</p><p><br></p><p>He was born in Erie on April 7th, 1960 a son of Frances Giamanco-Altadonna Marnella and the late David P. Marnella.</p><p><br></p><p>Phil was an alumni of St Paul’s & Cathedral Prep’s Class of 1978.</p><p>Phil was the Human Resource Director at Grimm Industries where he dedicated his Career with 30 years of service.</p><p>Outside of work, Phil’s passion was his family – He was a brother, a husband, an uncle, a father & most proudly: Papa.</p><p>Phil loved being involved in the Erie Baseball community especially in his roles spent with Erie Thunder, Erie Legion & Villa Maria Academy. He also tried his best to enjoy watching the “Damn Yankees”.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to Baseball & his Family, Phil spent many of his days in the local bowling establishments throughout the area creating life long friendships and memories including a very special memory with Rick Heaverly in 1982 at Frontier Lanes scoring the 2nd highest doubles team score in the Nation with a 1556 series.</p><p><br></p><p>He was also a proud organizer of the Sons of Little Italy & member of the La Nuova Auora Society where his contagious laugh & smile will greatly be missed.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to his father, Phil is preceded in death by his father & mother in law, Joseph A. & Ann Skladanowski & brother in law, Joseph J. Skladanowski.</p><p><br></p><p>He is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Daria M. (Skladanowski) Marnella, son David P & Kaila Marnella, grandchildren Enzo & soon to be granddaughter Marnella, mother, Frances Giamanco-Altadonna Marnella, siblings, Kathryn & Kenneth Wenslow, Carol & Roger Harrington, Ann & Thomas Chido and Paul Marnella & Heather Lyon, in-laws, Maryann & Dale Hannah, Richard & Mary Margaret Skladanowski, Cynthia Skladanowski, and John & Elaine Skladanowski and the Perry Family with whom he carried a special bond. Additionally, many beloved nieces, nephews, godchildren & cousins.</p><p><br></p><p>Friends are invited to the Funeral Mass at St. Peter’s Cathedral on Friday May 30, 2025 at 1pm.
