<p>Brian Dean Horton, 65, of West Hartford, beloved husband of Jeanne Cotter Horton, passed away peacefully at home on March 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.</p><p><br></p><p>Brian was the son of the late Harold Clarence Horton and Mary Jean (Pedrody) Horton. The youngest of six siblings, Brian was born on August 9, 1959, and raised in West Hartford. Brian attended local schools and was a graduate of the Saint Thomas Moore School in Montville, CT.</p><p><br></p><p>At the time of his passing, Brian was employed as Executive Director of Business Development at PTS Contracting in Armonk, NY. Over the last 30 years, Brian held different positions with various construction firms in the Greater Hartford area. A carpenter by trade, Brian’s skill set and generous personality led to a successful and unique career, eventually working on some of the largest commercial construction projects in CT and beyond. He was always willing to help connect family and friends with positions out of the goodness of his heart.</p><p><br></p><p>Brian was an avid woodworker and talented musician. He worked with artists around the country and hosted an annual “Acoustic Evening” for many years with his wife at their home in North Granby. Whenever Brian set his mind to something, he did it fully focused and dedicated. Loving his family was no different.</p><p><br></p><p></p><p>Left to mourn his loss are his wife, Jeanne Cotter Horton; his son and daughter-in-law, James and Elizabeth Kidd; his daughter and her fiancé, Mary Kidd and Casey Buchholz; and his adored granddaughter, Sophie Kidd. Also left to mourn are his siblings; Barbara Rawn, Jennifer Mazur, Gregory Horton, Deborah Robison, Diane Keeney, brother-in-law William Cotter, and sister-in-law Patricia Cotter. He also leaves a plethora of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Especially close to Brian were his niece and nephew, Katie and Christian Robison.</p><p><br></p><p>Besides his parents, Brian is predeceased by his parents-in-law, William and Patricia Cotter; his brothers-in-law, Thomas Cotter, John Keeney, Ron Mazur, Jeff Rawn and William Robison; his sister-in-law, Alice Horton; and his nephew, Jeff Horton.</p><p><br></p><p>The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and health care providers of the UConn Health Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center for all their professionalism, love, and support through Brian’s journey.</p><p><br></p><p>A Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, (April 5), at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave, West Hartford with the Reverend Mel Kawakami officiating. A Calling Hour will follow from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
